It’s not ME, It’s WP!

Hello Everyone!

I hope your first day of the New Year was eventful and spent doing just what you love. For there’s a saying I heard somewhere that whatever you end up doing on the first day of the New Year, is what you shall be doing for the rest of the year.

For some of you, it still isn’t too late. So if you have been wanting to join that dance class, or those music lessons, or have been wanting to go out on that overnight trip to the nearest hill station, or for that matter have been trying to kick off a bad habit – now’s the time πŸ™‚

Don’t fret if you didn’t. I’m sure its just a saying. I ended up taking care of a husband who has a cold. I’m sure I won’t be doing it for the rest of the year… hopefully!

On another point, a friend on WP asked me yesterday how I had followed him just a few days back when we have been regularly commenting on and reviewing each other’s post for more than 2 Β months now.

Imagine my embarrassment!

I had to write him a lengthy note explaining that it wasn’t me, it was WP. He was kind enough to laugh it off but I thought it would be better if I alerted fellow-bloggers here about this technical gaffe.

The thing is, it may seem that I’m following some of you after a long, long time of making your acquaintance, or that I’ve re-followed you, but that’s not the case. I almost immediately follow a blogger as soon as I make their acquaintance for the first time. But because of some technical glitch either in my app or in the WP website, some followers end up being randomly un-followed. I have to routinely check my followers list to see who I have not been able to follow for some reason, or if I’ll have to re-follow some bloggers. Its become really irritating now, this follow-unfollow problem, because now I have to double check if those I’ve followed, specially through my phone app, have actually been followed or not.

So if some of you have been victims of this technical glitch on my end, I apologize. Just let me know that I suddenly seem to have unfollowed you and I’ll follow you right back again πŸ™‚

Another Β technical problem I’ve encountered is that posts I like and then follow up with a comment (which is the case in 90% of my comments), NEVER get liked, though the comment will be posted. So it may seem to some of you that I first like your posts then suddenly unlike them. Again, that’s not me! Its WP! Please let me know if you’ve noticed this aberration in my posting habits.

There are other technical problems too, like notifications do not appear on the app, even though the emails concerning a notification appear in my inbox promptly. But at least that doesn’t cause me public embarrassment like the two gaffes mentioned above.

I’ve left feedback to the WP team on their app, but to no avail. I’ve tried reinstalling the WP app. Nada! I’ve tried tinkering with the settings but I don’t see anything wrong anywhere!!

Have any of you faced a similar issue? Or do you know the solution to this problem? If you do, please, please enlighten me.

And those of you who have been victims of this follow-unfollow/like-unlike business, please bring it to light and forgive me…

  1. Happy New Year! I wish I had known about that New Year’s day saying before I wasted the day away…lol…….and yes, the follow/unfollow glitch has happened a couple of times on my blog. Not to worry.

  2. Happy New Year to you too.

And no, that hasn’t happened with me. I just assumed that my internet is acting up and I am not able to like a certain post. So, I try to like it again.

Yesterday, I spent the whole day thinking what to do. Guess what? I will be spending the whole year confused! πŸ˜›

  3. That embarrassment gif was cool. 😁😁

I too have faced the problem of likes not getting set on the posts in my reader. But its been so long that I’ve grown used to liking posts twice or thrice now. 😝

And I don’t get mails about new followers now. I think the WP team are punishing me for not checking up on the followers. Karma….
