There is a beauty in torture…
When two hearts that beat as one,
Are thrown far apart,
But the heart yearns and grows fonder.
Distance doesn’t defeat love.
Or when your crush is out with someone else,
But you still love them as if they were your own.
You wish them well.
You’d do anything for them.
Or when they are upset with you over a triviality,
That you know you can resolve with a sorry, but won’t.
Because you love the game of mock anger and making up;
The kisses afterwards, the tender sweet-nothings exchanged.
When they dangle that above your head,
Just within the reach of your grasp,
That which your ears have longed to hear, or your eyes have ached to see,
For what it seems like an eternity.
And there is a beauty in those torturous smiles that they fake,
When they’re aching inside, because they don’t want you hurt too.
But you know anyway,
Because you know them.
Love is a beautiful sort of torture…
