Motherhood

Do you know,
Darling child of mine,

That no matter however much,
I may be crossed with you,

That no matter how many times,
You may throw your tantrum fits,

That no matter how many times,
You may wreck the room,

That no matter however much,
May I be troubled and wearied,

It’s at night when the moon,
Is high in the inky skies,

That I kiss your unperturbed brow,
While you slumber unworried, in gay abandon,

And I trace the lines of your tiny face and frame,
And hope that you sleep forever like so?

And I tell myself how blessed,
This state of motherhood is,

For having brought you to me,
To for ever in my heart enclose.

    • Thanks a lot Ishan. Well a Father’s love isn’t all that much different than a Mother’s. I think if Father’s were to spend so much time close to their kids as mothers have to, they’d be professing their love with such strength as well. Thanks for appreciating 🙂
