And the quintessential Indian snark – “Arey kahan mar gaya?”(Where did you go off to?) Actually, nothing in the English language comes close to translating the anger, frustration and derision in this Hindi idiom that literally means ‘did you die or what’.

  1. Sarcasm is certainly not something that should be promoted but like many other unwanted human traits it continues to exist and thrive. You have a valid point that it can lead to the disastrous situations too. While we may not be able to eliminate it completely, we surely need to provide psychological and moral support to the victim.
