A Touch

A touch – it has a language of its own.

One touch conveys friendship with a handshake,
The other anger with a slap on the face.
A touch coveys trust
With a tiny clasp around your finger,
And yet another, comfort
When grief weighs down your shoulders.

And one touch is all it takes
To tell love and lust apart.
One touch is all you need
When you’re missing someone a lot.

But my favourite is when a touch conveys,
To what a thousand words can’t compare –
That to someone you mean the world;
That to someone
Your one, single touch is enough.
