I Need This Man

I don’t want a man who
Solves my problems for me,
I want one who
Solves my problems with me.
I don’t want a man who
Shows me how to get things done,
I want one who gives me space
To figure it out on my own.
I don’t need a man to buy me bling,
I need a man who
Compliments my taste.
I don’t need a man who puts
Food on my table, wine in my glass.
I want him to appreciate what I cook,
Be a drinking buddy to a drunken lass.
I don’t want a man
Who promises me the sun and the stars,
I want a man who tells me
They are mine for the taking.
I don’t need a shield against the world.
I need a buttress to my wall.
I don’t need a protector,
What I need is a friend who tells me
I’m strong enough to brave it all.

  1. Bonjour mon Ami Amie

    Gros bisous. Bernard

  2. Very well penned. This is of different taste which is why this poem is a gem… The three lines are awesome:

    I don’t need a protector,
What I need is a friend who tells me
I’m strong enough to brave it all.

    Well written… Liked it. 🙂
