Lambs 🐑 . . We came across a shepherd on our trip to #tikonafort. These lambs had been separated from their moms because they are prone to stray from the herd. . . One of my fondest childhood memories is of chasing goat kids roaming in the fallow fields in the neighbourhood, snatching them up (they buck and rear as bad as a horses do) and smuggling them into the house where they'd feast on my Mom's cactii and other potted plants, till their concerned owners would find them. . . I try to teach my daughter how we needn't be afraid of animals, how a 🐶 on the street or a stray 🐱 deserves the same care as a pet, how even creatures like 🐛🐌🕷️🦋, tiny as they may be, have a life that deserves respect. So far, she has shared in that sentiment. Some weeks ago I learnt that someone I knew committed suicide over a broken relationship. In another instance, a young driver who worked in the neighbourhood tried to take his own life over something someone had said to him. He eventually succumbed to his injuries. His suicide became a success. . My shock aside, I kept thinking of how broken these two must have felt within. And alone. How many contacts did they have in their phonebooks? Or in their friend lists? Could none help them? Their heartache scared them more than the fear of death. I wish they had reached out for help. I wish someone had told them that their lives matter more than their broken hearts, and that hearts do heal. The number of times I've sung at weddings/gatherings/parties/competitions/at home is inversely proportional to the number of surviving videos of me singing. And that's because I promptly delete whatever videos I have. I like it when I sing. Alone. But I hate, hate, hate, singing before a crowd. I start losing my voice and stage fright has always been my undoing. I've lost several competitions because my nerves got the better of me. People think that I'm a confident person, too talkative in fact, but hand me a mike and I turn into a puddle of mud. I'm still figuring out ways to get over it because heck, stage presence is a useful gift. . . Have you figured out how to tackle that beast?
