Smile Like Wildfire

His smile is wildfire.
The couloir of his lips
Widen just enough
To let pass
A glacial glimpse
Of white peaks.

Then, licks of red
Snake up his eyes
Where dark embers
Burn with the heat
Of the Pole Star.

And while your eyes trail
The pathways it makes,
It gains
A life of its own,
Its pink warmth
Digs in,
Cleaves its way
To the core.

In jest
He ingests
Adoration.
While you
Choke in awe.
But wildfire thirsts
Till it consumes all.
And so am I
Purged of all
But this hellfire.

Not a smirk
Not a laugh. No.
A question mark
On language.
Queer and abstract.
Hovering in a chasm of lore.
It’s a black hole
Where I can flounder
And find myself.

His smile is wildfire.
And I burn in its pyre.
